FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We have complied a list below of common questions that you may have about the event. Please carefully read through them and if you cannot find the answers you are after, feel free to reach out to us via our contact form or directly via email, at hello@thecountrycakesociety.com.au

Our first event is being held on Saturday 16th May 2026, in the beautiful town of Boonah in the Scenic Rim (address provided upon ticket purchase), located approximately 1 hour & 30 minutes from the Gold Coast, 1 hour & 10 minutes from Brisbane and 40 minutes from Ipswich.

Yes! Everyone who would like to attend the event, will need to both purchase a ticket and bring a cake.

To put it simply, no.

This event is for people who LOVE cake. Love baking cakes, love decorating cake and most importantly, love eating cake! We welcome bakers of all experience, and encourage you to put your best cakes forward.

You don't have to be the best baker, you just have to love what you create. We encourage you to bring a cake that you would personally love to eat, and are excited and proud to share with others. If you are feeling a little nervous, or haven't had much experience baking, we recommend making a practice cake or two in the lead up to the event, to help build your baking confidence.

Although all cakes will be labelled with the allergens that they contain, unfortunately we cannot guarantee an allergen free environment. Guests with allergies and dietary restrictions should attend, and consume cakes, at their own discretion.

Absolutely! We encourage you to attend with your friends, family or partners, the more the merrier - however everyone in attendance must purchase a ticket and bring a cake.

Also don't be afraid to attend solo! Our hope is to create a beautiful, supportive cake community, and that you will leave the day with new friends!

Children between the ages of 12 - 16 years old are welcome to attend, but must also bring a cake. There will be a second ticket listing for the Junior Bakers, and their cakes will all be displayed together on a separate table so that we can appreciate the work our young cake lovers. Unfortunately, we are unable to cater for children under 12 years old at our event.

We want you to have as much creative freedom as possible when creating your cake, however we do have a few guidelines in place to ensure a fun and fair event, with plenty of cake to go around.

All cakes must arrive whole and uncut, and be a minimum of 8 inches (20cm) wide and approximately 3 inches (7.5cm) tall. No cupcakes, pies, tarts, brownies/slices, pre-sliced cakes or individual desserts. You should bring your cake on a cake board or plate, and you may also wish to bring a cake stand to display your masterpiece (however this is not essential). You will also need to complete a label to be placed next to your cake listing the cakes flavour, and allergen information. This card will be provided to you on the day of the event.

Beyond these guidelines, you can go as crazy as you'd like! Have fun with your design and flavour, try a different shaped cake or a decoration you've always wanted to! We will be having a fun little Peoples Choice Award for the favourite cakes of the day!

  • You will need to have returned a signed event waiver form, either prior to the event or on the day. A copy of this will be emailed to you when your ticket is purchased, and can either be digitally signed and returned via email, or printed, signed and brought with you on the day of the event.
  • If you wish to, you can also bring along your own picnic blanket, however this is not essential. We will have plenty, and varied, seating options for you on the day; ranging from outdoor couches, tables and chairs, high bars and stools and low picnic tables and rugs.

Transporting a cake can be nerve wracking, especially if you have a bit of a drive ahead of you to get to the event. Here are some tips to make sure your cakes gets to the event in one piece!

  • The two most important things to remember are to keep your cake as flat as possible, and as cool as possible for the drive.
  • We recommend transporting your cake in a cardboard cake box, or a plastic cake carrier (if height allows), to ensure that it won't get knocked around.
  • Your cake is then best transported either flat on the floor of your car (the front passenger footwell is great for this, or behind the front seat if space allows), or flat on the lap of a passenger (if you have one willing and able)! You could also place the cake flat in the boot of your car, if this is a cool spot.
  • Then, get that air conditioner going!! A cool environment is the best place for your cake, so if you can point your cars air con in the direction of your cake, that is ideal. Also if possible, try to keep the cake out of direct sunlight.
  • If you are still worried about the stability of your cake, it can be helpful to insert some wooden skewers into your cake, just for transportation. Four to five skewers pushed down through the layers of the cake will help to secure it and stop any sliding. They are also then super easy to remove and touch up any holes when you arrive to place your cake on display.

Each ticket holder will receive an email one week prior to the event, detailing the full timeline for the day, maps, instructions and guidance. However, the general running of the day will be as follows:

  • Guests will arrive at the venue and be welcomed by staff
  • You will have ample time to drop your cake off onto the display tables and add any finishing touches.
  • After a few words of welcome from your hosts, everyone will have the opportunity to take a walk around and appreciate the cakes. Feast your eyes, take photos and videos, read about the flavours etc
  • All cakes will then be cut, and then the fun really begins!
  • Fill your plate with slices of delicious cakes, grab a drink and take your time to savour. Chat to other bakers, swap recipes and decoration tips, breathe in the fresh country air and enjoy your time as a part of this sweet community. This is intended to be a relaxed, slow paced afternoon. No rushing, just appreciation for all the hardwork, creativity and love went into the cakes created.
  • At the conclusion of the event, you will collect any cake platters, boards, stands, boxes etc that you brought along, and any remaining cake slices can be packed into boxes for you to take home and share with your family and friends.

Your ticket price includes entry to the event, plates, cutlery and napkins, as well as a cake box to take away, tea, coffee, water and several chilled refreshment options, as well as a little goodie bag.

All ticket purchases are final and non-refundable, however if you are unable to attend the event due to unforeseen circumstances, your ticket may be transferred to someone else. If you need to transfer your ticket, please email us at hello@thecountrycakesociety.com.au with your name, contact details and ticket number, as well as the name and contact details of the person you wish to transfer to.

We hope so!! Send us an email it you'd like to join our mailing list, and stay tuned to our socials for any future event announcements.
